ANEW Executive Director Cynthia (Cindi) Rose was trained by Child-Rite Special Needs Adoption Agency, Inc in 1991. She then was responsible for the opening and operations of the Child-Rite Albuquerque Office. As part of that agency she provided training to prospective foster and adoptive parents, completed home studies, counseling and post placement services. She also conducted and prepared home studies as a sub-contractor for CYFD/HSD. For the next seventeen years she provided adoption services as an independently licensed social worker, certified by CYFD to provide said services. She also contracted with La Familia, Inc., and later Adoptions Plus to provide adoptions services. She has also completed independent domestic adoptions working with both the birth and adoptive parents. She also began completing second parent adoptions in 1994 and has worked with same gender couples since that time. Cindi has also been an active member of the New Mexico Adoption Alliance for many years. She has been the National Adoption Day Coordinator for the last three. She has traveled to China on two occasions. On first trip in March of 1995 she had the opportunity and honor of meeting with the top officials of what was to become China’s Centre for Adoption. She also traveled with a group of adopting parent and their newly adopted children. The second trip to China in late 2006 was as a delegate with a People to People Ambassador’s Program, in conjunction with NASW, to the first ever China-United States Social Work Conference. As part of a sub group for Child Welfare she traveled to Tianjin to visit SOS Children’s Village and a facility that worked with deaf children. Cindi also has a passion for working with adoption and finds it the most meaningful work she could ever have.
